Gerd Türk began his vocal and musical education as a singer at Limburg Cathedral. After studying music education, sacred music and choral direction in Frankfurt / Main, he completed his vocal training at Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with Richard Levitt and René Jacobs. As a singer, he worked with leading international music personalities such as Ton Koopman, René Jacobs, Philippe Herreweghe, Jordi Savall, Frans Brüggen, among others. Hisartistic career has led him to perform around the world, participating in opera productions in Montpellier, Innsbruck, Antwerp, Barcelona and Madrid. He earned a special reputation as evangelist in both J. S. Bach passions. His discography includes about 100 CD productions, including numerous international awards and recordings from the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis series. He regularly participates in the acclaimed recording of J. S. Bach's completevocal work with Bach Collegium Japan under the direction of Masaaki Suzuki. Since 2000, Gerd Türk has been a singing teacher at Schola Cantorum Basiliensis and has also been invited to conduct masterclasses at Tokyo University of Fine Arts.
